1: Can the Ratchet tooth-strap fail ?
No, this material is a glass filled nylon produced exclusively by DupontÒ called Zytel ST 801 (Super Tough). The tensile strength yield is 6000 psi.

2: Are these plastics; temperature, moisture, and UV stable ?
Yes, from -15°F to 185°F. They have been used for years in the sports and automotive industries.

3: Can the m2 Ratchet Buckle become jammed with sand or other contaminants ?
No, when the Ratchet Buckle is closed the tooth-strap is forcefully being pulled through the buckle and is self-clearing. In the NAVSEA Evaluation of Self-Applied Tourniquets for Combat Applications-SECOND PHASE (April ’07); “the tourniquets were immersed in a blood analog solution and then rolled in sand to simulate desert combat (field) conditions”. 

4: How strong is the m2 Ratchet Buckle ?
With a tensile strength over 550 lbs. it is industrial strength. It has been used in numerous industries under various conditions for 15 years. 

5: How long has m2 been making tourniquets ?
Produced Generation 1 in March ‘02. Since then, the RMT has gone through more than 20 refinements and modifications.
